Koleinu, Boston’s Jewish Community Chorus
Health and Wellness Policy (Updated October 2026)

• Immunization: Compliance with state guidelines for COVID, influenza, and RSV vaccination is strongly recommended, but not required for participation in Koleinu rehearsals, concerts or other gatherings (see MA State Guidelines: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/dph-recommended-vaccines).
  
  
•  Masking: Masking is not required at Koleinu gatherings. Members are welcome to wear masks, which are available at rehearsals for a small fee. Members should not question others about their reasons for masking or distancing.
  
  
•  Spacing/Virtual Access: Individuals will be permitted to distance themselves during rehearsals as they prefer, within limits determined by the Artistic Director. If possible, rehearsals will be conducted in a space allowing for comfortable distancing and will as possible, have a virtual attendance option. At performances, it is assumed that the group will need to stand in close proximity to one another, and that those who are uncomfortable doing so may be unable to participate.
  
  
•  Symptoms and Testing:  Members MAY NOT attend ANY Koleinu rehearsal, performance or other event if they exhibit symptoms of flu, cold, COVID-19, or other virus (e.g., runny nose, cough, fever, sore throat, headache, body aches, unless such symptoms are mild and reliably rooted in non-contagious conditions such as allergies) or if they test positive for COVID even without symptoms. In any such case, members are encouraged to rehearse virtually. •  Notification: If a member becomes ill with COVID or tests positive for COVID within 5 days after in-person participation, they must inform the President or their designee, who will inform the general membership by email, giving the date of potential exposure and the vocal section of the individual involved (so members can determine their own level of concern). The President or designee will maintain the confidentiality of the member who has self-reported.
